Let There Be justice For All

2007 begins in Liberia on a rather interesting start! There seems to be a myriad of issues that have now begun to crowd the public forum, beginning with the dubious financial transactions that characterized the previous transitional arrangement and the wheeling and dealing that accompanied the process leading up to the selection of leaders of the House of Representatives. A common trend runs through these issues which focus mainly on character, especially in public service.

Creating the conditions for change and a reversal of such trend in public service requires an unrelenting resolve to ensure that justice is served at all cost. Ensuring justice is just one side of a simple two-sided issue. The other has to

do with the creation of procedures and guidelines to govern conduct in public service. Liberians from every walk of life recognize the menace of such behaviors especially in stifling growth and development in the society.

Walking away from correcting this wrong is not an option, as demonstrated in the expressed policy of the UP-led government, but only leaves room for the continuation of such unwholesome practices. Also, appearing intimidated from statements by individuals muddied by these criminal activities must not be encouraged. A total resolve to confront this menace transparently must be the highlight of this endeavor. This is a cause in the people’s interest and only justice is being sought, for only justice ends wars.
