The FBI is said to be offering
reward for any information leading to the arrest of
Kettehkumue Earl Murray.
Since the
bulletin was issued in 1997, the FBI could not get any trace of Mr.
Murray until just recently when it was posted all over the internet
that the same Kettehkumuehn Murray was serving in the Liberian House
of Representatives, and was heavily involved with a process to
remove its Speaker. Mr. Murray currently serves alongside renegade
lawmakers as chairman of the House Standing Committee on the
Executive. But when the news of his alleged rape case surfaced
within the media, he disappeared. His colleagues have not been able
to account for him.
One report
said Mr. Murray deliberately and cleverly went into hiding to avoid
capture or any confrontation with the law, as rumor now has it that
the FBI has learnt of his presence in Liberia and is in contact with
the US embassy in Monrovia on the issue.
So far, no
authority in Liberia or the US Embassy has commented on the latest
developments neither does anyone know how long Kettehmuehn Earl
Murray will be in hiding.
Meanwhile, the
renegade lawmakers who were given up to midnight Thursday to file
returns with the Supreme Court of Liberia, have now filed the
returns. Court officers could not say what was contained in the
returns but a freealance correspondent covering the Liberian
legislature said the renegade lawmakers have been holding sessions
without the Speaker. On Tuesday, a
member of the group, Representative Elijah Seah of River Gee County
gave an interview to the VOA in which he said, “The Supreme Court can order a
subordinate court to return to status quo to stop all proceedings in
a pending case. The Supreme Court cannot stop a branch of government
from functioning. That in our minds is illegal, and I think the
judge in chambers will be in error to want to stop the House of
Representatives from functioning for the sake of one person,” he
said.
