Liberians in Dallas told to help countrymen

The President of the newly formed Liberian Association of Dallas County, LADC in Dallas, Texas, Dr. J. Christopher Wreh has told Liberians in that community that the organizing and inauguration of this organization is just the beginning of a long road ahead. Dr. Wreh say they are organized for a purpose. He said everything they do in life is defined by their purpose to do it and urged the community through LADC to pursue the purpose at all cost. His comments were contained in his inaugural address delivered at the inauguration ceremony. He said LADC should do concrete things to assist Liberians at home and abroad in their time of needs. Dr. Wreh reminded his audience that Liberians back home are in a dire strait and need out help. He said LADC must therefore develop and undertake some development projects here and in Liberia. He thanked the Liberian Community in Dallas County for the preferment and said he is humbled by the trust place in him to serve as the first elected president of LADC. Dr. Wreh promised to execute his responsibility with the high sense of honesty and dignity, intellect and transparency and the guidance of the constitution of the organization. He said the theme of his administration is: UNITY AND PURSUING OUR PURPOSE The officers were inducted by Judge Chizo Ihekere. The Guest Speaker was the Mayor of the City of Garland, Rev. Dr. Roland E, Jones, He said all great things start from somewhere with a few who had the idea, conceived it and generated the energy to encourage others to come together. Dr. Jones said he was delighted to be a part of the inauguration. He said the organization has meaning and reminded the officers and members of the Board of Directors that the weight of the news association is directly on their shoulders. He said the members of the Liberian community in Dallas have trusted them with the leadership to guide, to lead to make the best recommendations for the good of the cause of LADC. The Garland City Mayor called on the members to hold the officers accountable to remain purposeful and pure, stand physically fit to do the job for which they were elected, because by doing so they will be in the position to maximize the potential growth of the organization. “You can train your mind to think and focus on the positive and what is best for the organization, Rev, Dr, Jones said. He cautioned them against saying negative things in public about their organization, he said this is a new group and as they grow, they will perfect. He said criticism should be done within the body. He encouraged them to hit the ground running. Earlier, the outgoing Acting President of LADC, Emmanuel Kumeh said failure was not an option for LADC. He thanked the founding members of the organization while appealing to Liberians in the community to register officially as members. Mr. Kumeh said, the association does not represent individuals, but the community. He said with the formal inauguration of LADC, history has been made. The idea of the LADC was conceived nearly a year ago. LADC according to the organizers was set up by a group of sound minded Liberians in that community who sought to make their right of self determination known. Before then, the interest of the Liberians in the county of Dallas was represented by the Liberian Community Association of Dallas Fort Worth.
