Posted April 5, 2008
Brooklyn Park,
Minnesota:
The Liberian Journal, the newest addition to the Liberian online media
family, will be formally launched online on Monday April 7, 2008. “The
Liberian Journal is a media entity dedicated to keeping a chronicle of
Liberians across the Diaspora—emphasizing their contributions to
communities, to organizations, to ideas, and to the world at large”,
says a release issued today.
The Management of The Liberian Journal (http://www.theliberianjournal.com/) says there is a huge need to highlight events and developments in the Liberian Diaspora.” We need to celebrate the unique Liberian stories that are often ignored and to also look at the forces inspiring the popular ones”, Robert O. Reeves, the Vice-President for Community Outreach said, adding,” We are essentially attempting to share our unique experiences”. Vice-President Reeves says The Liberian Journal will also focus on producing, publishing, and sharing news information and thought-provoking analyses on issues and events impacting Liberia, Liberians, Africa, and the world in general. The Journal news and information portfolio is expected to include developments in the spheres of politics, economics, sports, health, entertainment, etc. According to a release signed by its publisher, Mr. Abdullah Kiatamba, The journal will also engage in marketing—promoting Liberian projects and events, as well as underlining the outstanding roles of non-Liberian individuals and organizations whose efforts, positively or negatively, impact Liberians across the Diaspora. This user-friendly online news portal, which allows for members to post their own announcements and articles, including images, has received high ratings from many quarters. The Journal features information on health, Jobs, schools, Liberian communities, amongst several others. “Our operational goal is to continuously expand the capacity and functionality of our resource and information portals and that is exactly why we have challenged ourselves to roll out new features in the next three months”, stressing,” We have concluded plans to introduce seven new pages, comprising a chatroom, a fully loaded entertainment page, and other appealing surprises”, the publisher revealed. The Liberian Journal management says it appreciates the contributions and suggestions of many media professionals, publishers, and experts throughout the world. The Liberian Journal (http://www.theliberianjournal.com/) is headquartered in Minnesota, United States.
