the country. She expressed appreciation for the President’s efforts in working towards the return of the Peace Corps to Liberia. 

President Johnson Sirleaf, according to an Executive Mansion release, thanked the Assessment Team for the visit and expressed the hope that its findings would lead to positive results which would see the eventual return of the Peace Corps to Liberia. 

The President spoke of the tremendous contribution the Peace Corps have made towards Liberia’s education over the years, regretting the interruption in their services due to the country’s civil conflict.  The President said one of the milestones of the government is to get back to the country those institutions which have formed strong partnership not only with government, but the people as well. The Peace Corps, the President said have played a significant role in the lives of Liberians over the years. Their eventual return, the Liberian leader noted, is a welcome opportunity.

The Team will visit Communities in the Greater Monrovia area, Kakata, Gbarnga and Zorzor. 

US Ambassador Donald Booth accompanied the Team to the Foreign Ministry.
